Jenn and Addy's Visit (June 15-16, 2009)

Jenn and Addy came to visit while Graham was away. We had some girl time and had lots of fun. First off, we took Addy swimming. Since our pool is extremely cold, due to the fact that the heater isn't working, we went over to Jill and Mike's. Addy loved the pool. The fact that the water was 90 degrees probably helped. She didn't want to get out, but who did?

The next day we went for a short visit to the Toledo Zoo.

We're going to the zooooooooooo! Addy is just too cute when she says zooooooooo!

We saw seals,
a polar bear playing with his toys,

giraffes
Addy trying to get a closer look.

Addy went for her first carousel ride too.

We saw a hippo
Then there were the elephants. Addy's favorite. She even had a snack with them.

A Sad Day in The D (June 11, 2009)

Well, this was supposed to be the post saved for the Red Wings Championship Parade, but we all know what happened there, so this is the best I can do. This is the poster that came in the programs we got at Game 1, along with my ticket, and the ribbons that I had in my hair that night (and the rest of the game nights). Here's hoping they can take it all the way next year.

Hey, Hey Hockeytown!!! (May 30, 2009)

Some friends and I were able to get tickets for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs in Detroit at the Joe Louis Arena. What an amazing experience. It's taken years to get to a Wings game, but to go to a Finals game was really the way to go. We were sitting about 4 rows from the very top of the arena, but just being there was worth it.
Before the game we walked down to see the Spirit of Detroit. All dressed and ready for the game(s)
We took the people mover from the parking garage to the arena. Just outside the arena.
There's Al!!!!
Inside the "The Joe". There sure are a lot of pennants.

You can even get Leinie's there. A little different then the real Leinie Lodge, but still nice to see.

A priceless sign we saw
Barry, Mary, and I after the game. Can you tell we had a great time?

A Chilly, Windy Memorial Day (May 25, 2009)

Since Jay had to go back to the boat the day after Memorial Day, and won't be home until the middle of July, we had to get the pool ready early. Unfortunately, that meant he had to get in to put the steps in. It was a nice, bright, sunny, windy, chilly day.

Getting up the nerve to go in

Let's get these steps in quick. It's a little cool.

Mother's Day (May 10, 2009)

On a cold, windy Mother's Day afternoon(or at least it was over at the river), I was out waiting for Jay's boat (the Calumet) to go under the Bluewater Bridges.
Of course, the Calumet had to wait for the Canadian Prospector to come down

Here she comes. There's the Coast Guard Cutter Hollyhock and the Huron Lightship in the background
Under the bridges
Upbound just past the bridges
Getting ready to make the turn from the St. Clair River into Lake Huron. Heading up to Stoneport to load more stone.

March Break (March 14, 2009)

At the beginning of March Break, Amy, Kevin, Sara, Jacob, and Daniel came to visit for a weekend. The girls went out shopping for Sara's graduation dress while the guys went up to Cabelas.

It's a Boat!!! It's a Boat!!! It's Uncle Jay's Boat (April 23, 2009)

In April, I went over to visit with Jenn and Addy for a few days while Graham was gone. On the Thursday afternoon, Jay's boat came into Cleveland, so we went down to see the boat and pick him up and go out for supper
Here's Addy and Uncle Jay infront of the boat. She didn't quite get to see the whole boat, so she didn't know it was a boat, but was fascinated by the rocks falling off the boom.

After supper, we went over to Edgewater Park to let Addy run around and wear off some energy
